Freeman, Acuna share heartwarming moments with father-son duos

Ronald Acuna had two special fans in the stands Truist Park to watch him and the Braves on Friday night.

A father and his 5-year-old son traveled from their home in Guatemala to Atlanta to attend their first baseball game and watch the Braves’ star outfielder, his son’s “idol.”

As it turns out, they picked a perfect game to make the trip.

Acuna had four hits in their 8-1 win against the Philadelphia Phillies, and hit a deep home run in the fifth inning.

The two, of course, were ecstatic.

Acuna saw the emotional video on Sunday afternoon on Twitter, and couldn’t help but reply.

That wasn’t the only heartwarming moment on Friday night in Atlanta.

First baseman Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer of his own in the win, though the ball was retrieved by young Phillies fan Joshua Scott — after a bit of trouble — and his dad, James, in the outfield stands.

Joshua, after finally tracking down the ball, then ran up and gave it to another young Braves fan who was wearing a Freeman jersey.

On Sunday, James and Joshua returned to Truist Park where they got to meet Freeman and get a signed ball from both him and Bryce Harper.

It’s early in the season, but the Braves are clearly off to a great start.
