With white sandy beaches, palm trees and glamorous restaurants, Miami is always a fun place for a weekend getaway with the girls. This guide contains everything you need to plan your trip, including where to eat, where to stay and what to pack!
Where to Stay in Miami
There are really two main areas where most people stay in Miami – either South Beach/Mid Beach, or Brickell. If you want to stay by the beach and within walking distance of restaurants and bars then South Beach is your best bet.
Or, if you’d prefer a more glamorous vibe then Brickell is where you’ll find all the skyscrapers, high-end restaurants and clubs. Here are some great hotel choices in Miami:
Nautilus by Arlo – Located on South Beach, this 250-room historic hotel is home to one of Miami’s best pools – a 1,890-square-foot heated saltwater pool complete with cabanas and comfy loungers.
Loews Miami Beach – Boasting a superb beachfront location off Collins Avenue in South Beach, the Loews is one of Miami’s best known hotels. Facilities include five restaurants, a beautiful pool, boutiques, a fitness center and a relaxing spa.
W Miami – Situated in the heart of Brickell, The W Miami features a 15th floor pool, a signature restaurant called ADDIKT, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a spa with water lounge, steam room and sauna. Rooms feature marble bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views of the city or Miami River. Best of all, the hotel is pet friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend.
What to Pack for Miami
When it comes to packing for a girl’s trip to Miami, think bold colors, tropical prints and a touch of glamor. During the daytime you’ll want to pack some casual clothes like sundresses, shorts, blouses and sandals. If you’re visiting during ‘winter’ time, then you may want to pack some white jeans and a light jacket.
Come nightfall, feel free to dress up as much as you want – Miami is one of those places you can never be too dressed up! Bring your heels, short dresses and some jewelry to jazz things up.
Pool Slides
Hopefully you’ll be spending lots of time by the pool so make sure you pack some stylish pool slides or sandals to wear during the daytime.
Swimwear
Don’t forget to pack a swimsuit or two..or three! Miami is pretty glam so this is the perfect opportunity to bring your glitziest bikinis. Think sequins, metallics, tropical prints, cut out swimsuits and itsy bitsy bikini bottoms!
Figure Hugging Dresses
For a night on the town, consider packing a few figure hugging dresses! I have a couple of bodycon dresses in my wardrobe but I only really feel comfortable wearing them in places like Vegas or Miami. Everywhere else I just feel overdressed but in Miami you can totally get away with it. EGO has plenty of figure hugging dresses for women with cutout patterns and bold colors.
Wedges
I don’t know about you but I find stiletto heels super uncomfortable so I much prefer to pack a pair of espadrille wedges or a nice block heel sandal that will go with everything. This way you can still feel comfortable but have a bit of extra height at the same time.
Things to Do in Miami
South Beach – Spend your first day in Miami exploring South Beach, which is known for its white sands, lifeguard huts and Art Deco buildings. Top up your tan, walk along the waterfront and explore all the area’s many restaurants and bars.
Wynwood Walls – This outdoor museum is filled with colorful murals created by some of the world’s best urban artists. The murals cover 6 buildings in the Wynwood neighborhood near Midtown and the Miami Design District.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens – Built by industrialist James Deering, this breathtaking Renaissance-style estate boasts 10 acres of gardens that resemble the gardens of Versailles. The home boasts over 70 rooms featuring gilded panels, fresco ceilings and furnishings sourced from across Europe.
Little Havana – This neighborhood is home to Miami’s Cuban community and the area is filled with Cuban restaurants, cigar shops, rum bars and art galleries. The main attraction in Little Havana is Make sure you try a Cuban sandwich and stop at Azucar Ice Cream Company for dessert!
Nightlife and clubbing – Miami boasts lots of dance clubs, including Club Space, E11even, LIV, Story, Nikki Beach and Do Not Sit on the Furniture. Have a nice dinner with your girls then put on your dancing shoes for a night on the town.

With year-round sunshine, Miami is a super fun place to visit any time of year. If you’re a fan of festivals and events, you could also book your trip to coincide with Art Basel, Ultra Music Festival or Miami Fashion Week. During these times there are lots of fun events and glamorous parties to attend.
