How to Watch Hallmark Christmas Movies Without Cable

The weather has gotten colder and sweaters are being bundled a little tighter. You know what this means — it’s officially the holiday season! While you may be choosing colorful ornaments to decorate your Christmas tree with or trying to find last minute gifts, you might want to watch the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ annual showing of Christmas movies in the background.

For those who already have cable, you can just head over to the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries to catch any of the 31 titles currently on this year’s movie slate. It’s also best you keep your weekends free because starting on October 21, Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Christmas” will air new movies on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT. If that isn’t enough for you, then you can continue your movie marathon with Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ “Miracles of Christmas” on Saturday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Folks who don’t have a cable provider could find it trickier to watch the 2022 Hallmark Christmas movies. But because we want everyone to join in on the holiday spirit and have the chance to experience the celebration these films bring, we have a guide on how to watch and stream them. After all, it isn’t Christmas without a little gift giving! Here is what you need to know about watching Hallmark Christmas Movies live without cable.

How to Watch and Stream Hallmark Christmas Movies Live

We have an early Christmas gift for you: Even if you pulled the cable plug, you can still watch Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries all season long. There are a number of streaming services that let you watch live TV and recordings anytime, anywhere at a fraction of the price.

All of these no-commitment streaming services are made with Hallmarkies in mind:

  • YouTube TV: Most recently, the platform added Hallmark TV to its line-up. For $65 per month, you can watch Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries around the clock, plus 100+ other channels.
  • Sling: For $35 a month, get all 40 channels a part of the Sling Orange Service — Lifetime, Hallmark and ESPN — and an additional nine channels, including Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Drama, as a part of the Lifestyle Extra package.
  • Philo: At a flat rate of $25 a month, get 60+ channels including all three Hallmark channels, HGTV and Lifetime. Just in time for “Countdown to Christmas,” test it out with a free seven-day trial.
  • fuboTV: The starter package – 138 channels, 1000 hours of DVR space, and screen sharing capabilities — starts at $69.99 per month. Before you make the splurge, try it out with a one-week free trial.
  • Frndly TV: For a cheaper alternative, get 40+ of cable’s top channels — all three Hallmark channels included — for just $6.99 a month. Sign on for a free seven-day trial and connect it with Roku, Amazon Fire TV or Chromecast.
  • Hallmark Channel Everywhere: Okay, Hallmark’s free streaming service typically requires a cable log-in, but during the holidays they unlock a few Christmas movies, so you can watch without signing in. And if you’re still sticking with cable (or know someone who has it), you can use this service to stream live programming on your phone, tablet or other compatible devices.

How to Watch and Stream Hallmark Christmas Movies After They Air

If you get caught up in a baking frenzy and miss the movies when they’re live on TV, don’t fret: Select streaming services give you the option to watch new releases within a few days of their initial air time.

  • fuboTV has a Lookback feature that allows users to watch any movies or TV shows up to 27 hours after their original air time.
  • If the movie is part of Sling’s on-demand or catch-up TV program, you can watch it whenever or even, record the movie with Cloud DVR Plus to watch at a later date. (Note: Your first 50 hours of DVR storage are included with a paid subscription, but then you’ll have to pay additional fees.)

How to Watch Older Hallmark Christmas Movies

Since Hallmark movies aren’t on Netflix or Hulu, your options are pretty slim. Some of the Hallmark Christmas classics like former star Candace Cameron Bure‘s A Christmas Detour and Danica McKellar‘s Crown for Christmas are available to rent or buy on Amazon, but a lot of the more recent movies aren’t available … yet.

You can get more bang for your buck by checking out the “Movies & Mistletoe” event on Hallmark Movies Now. Each month, they’ll release popular Christmas movies from previous years. Start with a 7-day free trial, then pay $5.99 for a monthly subscription or $59.99 annual subscription to get in the Christmas cheer, whenever and wherever you please. The former option is also available on YouTube TV!
