Taijuan Walker and Carlos Carrasco are the only starters that haven’t made their Mets spring debuts, but manager Luis Rojas gave an update to the media on Sunday afternoon about when those two could be hitting the mound.

Rojas expects that Walker will be available to throw on Tuesday for the first time. Carrasco, on the other hand, might come later in the week.

“I think after the next day off, we’re gonna see him,” Rojas said via Zoom about Carrasco. “That’s Jake’s day for now, the 11th, if we count the five days after yesterday. So either the 12th or the 13th, he should be on. But we’re building him up. We’re building him up to the point — same as Walker. We should see Walker the day after tomorrow on the mound. They’re going to start getting into games now.”

Carrasco made his arrival to Mets camp late after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. But he did say he feels ready to go and is looking to throw 180-200 innings this season.

“I might just miss one start at the beginning of spring training, but that’s fine,” Carrasco said. “I’d rather miss one start now than at the beginning of the season.

“But I’m ready. I prepared my body, I prepared my arm to get ready for the season and 180 to 200 innings.”

Rojas added Carrasco has looked good in his bullpen sessions.

Walker, though, was signed by the Mets as a free agent about two weeks ago, so he’s just getting up to speed with the rest of the group.
