PlayStation Stars Launches in North America

PlayStation Stars is Sony’s new loyalty program that went live in North America on Wednesday. Digital collectibles, PS Store credit and full games are some of the rewards available for those who put in the work.

PlayStation Stars is free to join for those who have a PlayStation Network account. Sign-ups can be done on the PlayStation website or on the PlayStation iOS or Android app. Some users might find themselves put on a waitlist that can take one to two months to receive access, which Sony says it’s doing in order to have an optimized experience.

Points and digital collectibles can be earned by participating in campaigns such as playing certain games or buying games in the PlayStation Store. Users will be able to complete the activities only on a PS4 or PS5 and not on older hardware. Some of the free games available for redemption after earning enough points are Hades; Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice; and The Quarry.

PlayStation Stars members can also level up their status by buying games on the PlayStation Store and earning trophies. Leveling up will give them access to more digital collectibles, and in the case of level 4 status, they will receive priority customer service chat support.

Sony first revealed PlayStation Stars back in June, and it launched first in Asia last week. It’s set to go live in Europe, Australia and New Zealand on Oct. 13.
