Thinking of Changing your Hair Color? It Might be Time to go Organic

Changing your hair color is an important decision. While some do it on a whim, others spend considerable time deciding the color, the type of dye, and the best way to do it.

It might be time to add one more item to that extensive list – whether to go chemical or organic. Although popular, many are still unaware of how eco-friendly hair coloring works and its effects.

So let us take a closer look at the organic hair coloring and what options you have to get the perfect hue you seek.

What are the Common Organic Hair Coloring Products?

First of all, it is worth mentioning that organic hair dyes and natural hair dyes are two entirely different product classifications. Organic dyes have ingredients made organically – without using chemicals.

That said, no organic hair dye is entirely free of chemicals. Only that there are fewer compared to chemical dyes, and usually does not contain any ammonia.

On the other hand, natural dyes are supposed to be 100% organic. However, the only completely natural hair dye is henna. All other hair dyes that are tagged organic or natural will certainly have a portion of chemicals in them.

How Effective are Organic Dyes?

Organic eyes tend to work only on the surface, and consequently, it might be not easy to get the same sustainable result as chemical dyes. Not only that, but you might also need to increase the exposure time to get the results.

If you used henna once, then using chemical dyes soon after can give you a greenish tint. It is best to wait for at least three to six months before trying out another color

Going from Dark to Light

It is also nearly impossible to use organic hair color to transition from brunette to blond. If you want to switch to only natural products on hair, lemon juice might work as an effective bleaching agent. But it can have serious repercussions such as dryness and hair damage.

Is Organic Hair Coloring Better for Your Hair?

If you choose to go with something organic, the only guarantee is that it has fewer chemicals. In the long term, this might be good for your body and hair, longevity, and health.

That said, organic hair dyes limit you to fewer options and do not always give you the desired result.

Before you try anything, it is best to get advice from a hair coloring expert. A bad hair color job could cost you more time and money to get it rectified.

All the same, it is good to know that brands are continuing to develop more eco-friendly products. It is certainly a better option – but at least in terms of hair dyes, you will be making a compromise between what you get and what you want.
