Top tips for planning your wedding

Your wedding is supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life, but having all that pressure hanging over the big day can make planning the event a major headache. With that in mind, we’ve pulled together some top tips to try and ease the stress. They should not only help ensure your day goes smoothly, but also that the process of planning it is as enjoyable as possible – which it absolutely should be!

Begin early

The sooner you start planning, the less stressful the experience will be. It means you’re less likely to suffer the disappointment of a venue or band you fall in love with being booked on your wedding date, and it also makes it easier to stay on top of everything that you need to do. Being less rushed has the extra advantage of decreasing the chances that you’ll be forced to go over your budget or settle for second best in any area.

Be careful of budget

Speaking of budget, this is one of the first factors you should decide on, as it affects every single other aspect of the wedding. Try to be realistic, and remember to factor in all the small details as well as the big ones – these can all add up! You should never feel pressured by other people to go over your budget either. If a friend or family member does this, cut them out of the planning stage. Likewise, if a company tries to upsell you too forcefully, go with someone else.

Focus on personal details

A wedding is a celebration of the love between you and your partner, so try and make it as personal as possible. When looking for wedding bartenders, why not think about adding custom details and adds on to make it more to your liking, for example. Pick your favorite foods for the menu, choose your favorite songs for the playlist, and incorporate your personalities and memories into the day. For example, you could have a themed wedding, or add little details to the decorations or invitations that speak to your interests, shared hobbies, or memorable experiences you’ve had together.

Organization is key

With so many different factors involved in a wedding, you’re going to need to be super organized in your planning. It might sound dull, but having spreadsheets and to-do lists will be a big help. Similarly, don’t be shy about taking notes when you’re visiting venues or tasting cakes – it’s easy to forget the details when you’ve got lots of places and items to compare. Having a backup plan in case of any issues on the day – for example, bad weather – can also be helpful.

Make it fun

This is so important and yet often forgotten! Planning your wedding should be an enjoyable experience for both you and your partner, so try and treat it as such. Go for a drink together after visiting venues to discuss your thoughts, put on some music when you’re drawing up the budget, make mood boards for inspiration, or gamify the process to make it more fun. Don’t forget to make time for relaxation and self-care too, to prevent you from getting stressed or losing sleep!
