UConn football adds future games with Mississippi

Mar. 12—STORRS — The UConn football program finalized agreements to compete in a home-and-home series with Ole Miss in 2027 and 2028, against Liberty in 2022 and 2025 and at home against Sacred Heart in 2023, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Rebels will travel to East Hartford for a contest on Sept. 11, 2027 and the Huskies will head to Oxford, Miss. for the return game on Nov. 18, 2028. The matchup in 2027 will be the first between Ole Miss and UConn.

Liberty will travel to Rentschler Field on Nov. 12, 2022 and the Huskies will head to Lynchburg, Va. on Nov. 15, 2025. The date of the contest against Sacred Heart, which will occur sometime during the 2023 season, will be determined by UConn no later than Jan. 1, 2022.

Girls’ basketball

— Ellis Tech beat Grasso Tech 49-38 in a Connecticut Technical Conference East Division game. Leslie Melendez led Grasso (2-7) with 14 points and Sam Post and Sophie Byrne scored nine points each.

— Lizzee Jordan scored 12 points to lead Windham Tech to an 18-9 win over Norwich Tech in a CTC East Division game. Lucie Jules scored five points for Norwich Tech (0-5).

Women’s Basketball

— Sam McKenna scored 21 points and had seven rebounds as Mitchell College beat the University of Saint Joseph 75-48 in an exhibition game. Jermia Dumas scored 17 points, Alexia Watson had 15 points and six rebounds and Le’Sandra Turner had eight rebounds and eight assists for Mitchell.

Men’s basketball

— Five players scored in double figures as Babson College rolled to a 90-66 victory over Mitchell College on Wednesday night. Elijah Baidoo had 17 points, four rebounds and three assists to lead the Mariners (0-4) while New London’s Jalen Benson added 12 points, four assists and two steals.

Boys’ basketball

— Cromwell beat Old Lyme 74-36 in a Shoreline Conference game. Jacob Ritchie led Old Lyme (6-4) with 12 points.

— Lyman Memorial’s Jaiden Lopez scored a game-high 30 points, but the Bulldogs dropped a wild 88-76 double overtime decision to Windham in an Eastern Connecticut Conference North Division game on Wednesday night. Dylan Lucey added 16 points and Justin Thuotte 10 for Lyman (1-6). Devin Marquez led Windham with 26 points and Jayden Villafane finished with 23.
