What Kind of Accent Do You Have?

What kind of accent do you have?

Growing up in Michigan, I picked up a slight Michigan accent. For example, I’d say “maahm” instead of “mom,” and “Bab” instead of “Bob.” Now that I’ve lived in New York for 20 years, I’ve mostly lost it, but sometimes when I drink much wine, it can come out again.

Here, comedian Fred Armison does different Southern accents in the U.S. (If you’re living in or from the South, do you think they ring true to you?)

Send to someone who sounds like one of these 😂

And The Accent Guy makes me laugh so much. Omg, his Tommy Shelby!

George Mason University actually collects speech samples from around the world, and everyone has to read the same paragraph: “Please call Stella. Ask her to bring these things with her from the store: Six spoons of fresh snow peas, five thick slabs of blue cheese, and maybe a snack for her brother Bob. We also need a small plastic snake and a big toy frog for the kids. She can scoop these things into three red bags, and we will go meet her Wednesday at the train station.”

So, I’m curious, what’s your accent? Any fun slang from where you live or where you’re from? Please weigh in below…

P.S. Actors’ movie accents and the worst upstairs neighbors.
