Thank u, next. Ariana Grande is no stranger to relationships and breakups. Whether it was falling head over heels for Mac Miller or being briefly engaged to Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, Grande has opened up her heart to love — and loss.
The singer finally found her happily ever after with Dalton Gomez after experiencing some highs and lows in her dating life.
The Victorious alum’s past relationships include Graham Phillips from 2008 to 2011, Janoskians singer Jai Brooks from 2012 to 2014, The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes briefly in 2013.
Grande grew close to Big Sean in 2014, but they broke up eight months later due to conflicting tour schedules. The Finally Famous rapper tweeted at the time of the split “Just know I love u and I care for ya.”
Grande followed up with her own tweet, “Love u babes the most,” and Big Sean wrote back, “You just can’t imagine.”
The “Love Me Harder” singer then dated her backup dancer Ricky Alvarez from 2015 to 2016.
The “God Is a Woman” singer later was linked to Mac Miller for two years, until their breakup in May 2018. Grande started dating Pete Davidson shortly after the split.
Us Weekly broke the news of the pair’s engagement in June of the same year. Sadly, tragedy struck when Miller died from an overdose a few months later in September 2018.
A source exclusively told Us that the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer is “absolutely heartbroken” over the death of her ex. She paid tribute to Miller a week later with a glimpse at her memories with the rapper.
“i adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. i really can’t wrap my head around it,” the pop star captioned an Instagram video of Miller at the time. “we talked about this. so many times. i’m so mad, i’m so sad i don’t know what to do.”
She concluded: “you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. i’m so sorry i couldn’t fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you’re okay now. rest.”
A month later Grande and Davidson decided to call off their engagement.
“She was not ready to be a in a relationship and she saw that,” a source told Us in October. “Ariana pulled the plug, and then they decided to cool things off for a while.”
Another source told Us that same month that Miller’s death “put a tremendous amount of strain” on the duo’s relationship.
After working together on the song “Boyfriend,” Grande started dating Mikey Foster in August 2019. After their short-lived fling, the Florida native met Gomez in February 2020 and everything changed.
“He is the type of guy she has been looking for,” a source told Us in August 2020. “He’s very protective of her, will go out of his way for her and does little things that are chivalrous. Dalton will go above and beyond to meet her needs.”
The songstress knew that her relationship with Gomez was nothing like her past romances.
“Ariana sees something different in Dalton that she has never seen before in guys she has previously dated,” the insider added.
The twosome announced their engagement in December 2020.
“Forever n then some,” Grande captioned the announcement via Instagram with a series of photos of her cuddling with the real estate agent and of her engagement ring.
Us confirmed in May 2021 that the happy couple officially tied the knot in a small ceremony.
“They got married,” Grande’s rep confirmed to Us. “It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”

The Good Wife alum met Grande — 15 at the time — while they were both starring on Broadway in 13: The Musical. The pair, who wrote a song called “Stick Around,” dated between 2008 to 2011. Despite going their separate ways, the former flames reunited in July 2016 for a dinner with friends from 13.

Grande and the The Janoskians star began dating in August 2012 but split in October 2013, with Brooks taking to Twitter to accuse the Disney alum of cheating on him with Nathan Sykes. “Yes I was cheated on. Yes it does suck,” he wrote in a lengthy rant. “Yes I was left for another man.” The “Bang Bang” singer responded to those claims by accusing him of threatening her with retaliation if she chose to not be with him. “Woke up this morning in complete and utter shock …I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised. You said to me if I didn’t come back to you, you’d make me look bad to the entire world,” she responded on Twitter. “I’m no longer afraid of you or your lies anymore.” Despite their feud, the pair got back together briefly in May 2014 — only to break up for good in August.

Us Weekly exclusively revealed that The Wanted singer and Grande began dating in August 2013 after they released “Almost Is Never Enough” from the soundtrack of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. Their relationship was short-lived, however, with the pair breaking up in December of that year. A source told Us at the time that the reason behind their split was because the two “hardly ever saw each other” while another noted, “They just weren’t into it anymore.” However, three years later, they got together once again — to team up on a new version of his song “Over and Over Again.”

Following months of speculation, the “Side by Side” singer confirmed she was dating Big Sean in October 2014, calling him “one of the most amazing men in the whole word.” “It’s gotten serious very fast,” a source told Us at the time. “They are much happier than in their previous relationships.” Meanwhile, Glee star Naya Rivera, who was engaged to the “I Don’t F—k With You” rapper before they split up in April 2014, later alleged in her book, Sorry Not Sorry, that she found Grande at his home while she and Big Sean were still dating. The pair were also together when the “Love Me Harder” songstress made headlines in July of that year after she was caught on surveillance footage licking a donut in a store and saying she “hates Americans” and “hates America.” Although Grande told Billboard magazine in May 2016, “I’m a very happy girl,” the pair split two months later. However, they seemingly remain on good terms. Following the release of “Thank U, Next,” Alvarez posted a clip of himself listening to the song and Grande jokingly responded, “IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE … IT WAS MEANT V LOVINGLY,” referencing her lyrics, “Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh.”

Davidson announced on Instagram in May 2018 that they were dating, sharing a photo of the couple posing in Harry Potter outfits, which he captioned, “The chamber of secrets has been opened.” Us Weekly exclusively revealed that the comedian and Grande had gotten engaged a month later, with Davidson proposing with a $93,000 diamond ring. He later told Jimmy Fallon of their plans to wed, “I feel like I won a contest, so sick. It’s f—king lit.” The pair spent the summer flaunting their romance, which included adopting a pig and moving in together in a luxury condo in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood. An insider told Us that the pair met when he was hired to help her find a house to buy before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. She didn’t confirm their romance until May, when the pair slow danced in Grande and Justin Bieber‘s “Stuck With U” music video.

Us confirmed that the pair tied the knot in May 2021.
