Finance Ministry To Meet Infosys To Remove Glitches In Income Tax Website

Several complaints have been received about the new e-filing portal of Income Tax Department

To address several technical issues and glitches being faced by users in the new portal of the Income Tax department, the Finance Ministry will hold a meeting with Infosys which is vendor for the website, on June 22.

The Finance Ministry has received a lot of complaints regarding the new e-tax filing portal, which was unveiled on June 7, as many taxpayers are not able to perform even the simplest of tasks like updating their profiles and changing passwords. Even the speed of the portal is very slow, some users have complained.

According to official sources, written representations on the problems being faced in the portal were also invited from the stakeholders by the Finance Ministry.

In the meeting, representatives from the Infosys team will be present to answer queries, clarify issues and receive inputs on the working of the portal, to remove glitches and sort out issues faced by the taxpayers.

Other stakeholders including members from Indian Chartered Accountants Institute, auditors, consultants and taxpayers will also be a part of the interaction, official sources confirmed.
