Who doesn’t love watching some adrenaline-pumping thrillers that have you glued to your screen for hours together? This is exactly what the recently released season two of Aarya has to offer. If the Sushmita Sen-led series had you going “wow”, we are happy to report that there are more such shows streaming on various OTT platforms from the same genre. High on twists and turns, these shows are all you need for your weekend binge. To make things a tad bit simpler, we have curated a list of similar shows along with the streaming platforms that host them.

Here is a list of five such shows that you must add to your watchlist.

  1. Succession – Disney+ Hotstar

When money, politics and power meet a dysfunctional family, you get the Roy dynasty of Succession.  The CEO of one of the world’s largest media conglomerates, Logan Roy, decides it is time to retire and what follows is an enlarging web of lies, deceit and treachery spun by members of the family. With all the noise this satirical comedy-drama is making right now, we recommend you stay away from social media posts about the show to avoid spoilers.

  1. City of Dreams – Disney + Hotstar

Directed by celebrated filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor, City of Dreams is set in Mumbai, with the tricky world of politics as the background. An assassination attempt on a prominent political figure proves to be the lynchpin in the unfolding of a family feud and political usurpation.

  1. Unbelievable – Netflix

Much like Aarya, the women in Unbelievable have the odds stacked against them. Based on a true story, the show follows a teenager, who has been charged with lying about having been raped, and two female detectives who help uncover the truth.

  1. Illegal – Voot Select

With two seasons available for streaming, Illegal is a court drama that pits the corrupt against the underprivileged. As Niharika Singh — played by Neha Sharma — goes up against the unscrupulous criminal lawyer Janardhan Jaitley, you wonder where one draws the line in the pursuit of justice.

  1. Maharani – Sony Liv

Maharani, set in the 1990s, traces the life of Rani Bharti – played by Huma Qureshi– a homemaker and the wife of Bihar’s chief minister Bheema. Rani finds herself in the midst of a political quagmire as she is named the CM of the state after an attack on her husband confines him to the bed. But Rani, who starts off a mute spectator to her fate, soon takes the reins into her own hands much to the shock of those around her.

With these shows up and ready for streaming, we are sure this weekend is going to be a joyride with some thrills.
