Interview with Belgian Malinois Lulu from Channing Tatum’s DOG movie – Dogster

[ad_1]

OK, well that’s her name in DOG, the film where she stars with Channing Tatum, who also co-directs along with Reid Carolyn. It’s a road buddy movie that also deals with the trauma war causes on our soldiers — both humans and dogs.

The movie DOG, starring Belgian Malinois Britta — and, oh yes, Channing Tatum — is in theaters starting February 16th.

Two former Army Rangers take a road trip to a fellow soldier’s funeral— Briggs, played by Channing Tatum — and Lulu played by several dogs with the main one being Britta, who Dogster got to interview (see below). They jump in a 1984 Ford Bronco for a journey down the Pacific Coast filled with as many twists and turns as the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The DOG film comes out Friday, February 18th, and you can check it out in movie theaters (see here)  Want to see it at home? We don’t have a digital/streaming release date yet but the DOG film is an MGM/United Artists release, so stay tuned to its website.

Of course, we dog lovers want to know more about the dog playing Lulu. We got to talk to 3-year-old Belgian Malinois dog actor Britta about her role in the DOG movie. Britta is represented by Andrew Simpson, who operates Instinct, animals for film, based in Canada.

DOGSTER: First off, where are you from and how did you get that lovely name of Britta?

Britta: I was born in Europe and I got my name from someone picking my name out of a hat!

DOGSTER: How did you choose acting as a career?

Britta: Obviously, I was chosen to be an actress … just look at me. But seriously, I was picked because Andrew, my agent, saw a great deal of potential in me. He said I was sensible, calm but feisty, very confident and that I had a great on-camera presence.

DOGSTER: Tell us a little about yourself. What are some of your favorite things?

Britta: My favorite things are: chasing a Frisbee, riding in the truck, running with the horses on the farm, sleeping in front of the fire and did I mention Frisbee?

DOGSTER: Here at Dogster magazine, we often talk about our dogs’ super powers. What are yours?

Britta: My superpowers … hmm … I am an incredibly fast runner, I can hear someone opening a dog treat box miles away, and I can smell a steak cooking from four blocks away.

DOGSTER: Obviously you have some amazing training to accomplish everything you have done. Can you share some of your training secrets?

Britta: My training regime is incorporated into my normal day. I wake up at 6 a.m., walk the property and have a bathroom break, have a little breakfast, play some ball or Frisbee to work on my cardio, rest for a little bit, do some training to keep myself ready for “film stunt” work, rest again and wait for dinner.

DOGSTER: Like all movie stars (and frankly Belgian Malinois), you are very attractive. Any grooming tips you’d like to tell us?

Britta: I don’t have a big grooming routine. Basically, I roll out of bed and I look this good every day. Sometimes I need a bath if I roll in something unpleasant, and I get my nails done, but that is it.

DOGSTER: Now that the filming for DOG the movie is done, any hints at what films you’ll be doing next?

Britta: DOG was my very first movie! I have done a follow up film but unfortunately, I had to sign an NDA … No Dogs Allowed I think they meant? So, I can’t talk about it yet, but I am very proud of the role I had. I am sure once it comes out you will want to interview me again.

DOGSTER: Of course, we would, you are obviously a VIP (Very Important Pup). Anything you can tell us about your time filming the movie DOG? About the role itself?

Britta: On the set of DOG, sometimes I would fart, not loud but I did fart. Embarrassing but true. And, if I am honest, I should mention I had two stunt doubles to help make the film DOG. Lana and Zuza are their names. I honestly didn’t think I needed stunt doubles, but you know how agents are. Anyway, we all got along and worked together to make the film the best it could be.

DOGSTER: Thank you for woofing it up with us today Britta. We can’t wait to see you — oh, and your co-star Channing Tatum too, but mostly you — in the movie DOG. Now that we are such big fans, how do we follow you?

Britta: If you want to follow me, you can check out the movie on Instagram @dogthefilm, my agent has cool photos on @instinctwolves, and of course my on-screen co-star Channing Tatum @channingtatum.
