Margaret L. Drugovich, a former president of Hartwick College, in New York, has been named interim president of Marietta College, in Ohio.

Maurice D. Edington, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Florida A&M University, has been named president of the University of the District of Columbia.

Stephen Fowl, dean of Loyola College at Loyola University Maryland, will become president and dean of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, in California.

Rodney Hanley, president of Lake Superior State University, in Michigan, has been named president of Northeastern State University, in Oklahoma.

Fred Hawkins, a Republican serving in the Florida House of Representatives, has been named the sole finalist to serve as president of South Florida State College.

Eric Hogue, vice president for university advancement at Colorado Christian University, has been named president of the university.

Marsha Kelliher, president of Walsh College, in Michigan, has been named president of Simpson College, in Iowa.

Ann Kirschner, dean emerita of Macaulay Honors College at the City University of New York, has been named interim president of Hunter College.

Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Jarvis Christian University, in Texas, has been named its president.

Pardis Mahdavi, provost and executive vice president at the University of Montana at Missoula, has been named president of the University of La Verne, in California.

Peter O. Nwosu, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs and student success at the City University of New York’s Herbert H. Lehman College, has been named president of the State University of New York’s College at Oswego.

Yolanda W. Page, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Savannah State University, has been named president of Stillman College.

Michael P. Shannon, interim executive vice president for administration and finance and interim chief business officer at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has been named president of the University of North Georgia.

Robert T. Smith, provost and vice president for academic affairs and a professor of mathematics at Valdosta State University, has been named chancellor of Louisiana State University at Shreveport.

Jennifer Sobanet, executive vice chancellor for administration and strategy at the University of Colorado at Denver, has been named interim chancellor of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.

Leslie E. Wong, a former president of San Francisco State University and Northern Michigan University and a member of Connecticut College’s Board of Trustees, has been named interim president of Connecticut College. He replaces Katherine Bergeron, who will step down at the end of the month.

Resignations
Carmen J. Walters, president of Tougaloo College, in Mississippi, plans to step down at the end of this month.

Retirements
Lesia Crumpton-Young, president of Texas Southern University, has retired after two years in the role.

Gary Barta, athletic director at the University of Iowa, plans to retire after 17 years.

DEATHS
Owen Gingerich, a professor emeritus of astronomy at Harvard University and author of The Book Nobody Read: Chasing the Revolutions of Nicolaus Copernicus (2004), died on May 28. He was 93.

Ian Hacking, a professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Toronto, died on May 10. He was 87.

Gerald I. Lamkin, a president emeritus of Ivy Tech Community College, died at age 86.

Donald Price, founding director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and professor emeritus of pathology, neurology, and neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University, died on May 5.

William E. Spriggs, chief economist at the AFL-CIO, a former assistant secretary of labor in the Obama administration, and a professor at Howard University, died on June 6. He was 68.
