New Delhi:

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe is now available on Netflix. The movie made its way to the OTT platform just 20 days after its release, November 4. The Siva directorial can be streamed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh and Tottempudi Gopichand are also part of the film. The Netflix release has invited mixed reactions on social media. Some fans are thrilled, others see it as proof of the movie’s failure at the box office. Netflix in its Instagram post wrote, “#Annaatthe, now streaming on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.”

A person, who couldn’t contain his excitement after the announcement, wrote, “Done watching Annaatthe third time. This time in OTT. I love you, Thalaivaa Rajinikanth. Nothing else to say…The joy we are getting every time watching you on screen is priceless.”

Another called it a “Repeat mode”.

“Just finished my 10th show in theatre…Gonna watch Annaatthe on Netflix tonight,” read one of the comments.

Some Rajini fans sent “Thank you” messages to Netflix for streaming Annaatthe.

Then, there were a few, who questioned the makers’ decision and the film’s performance at the box office.

This user was disappointed by “the way the film is released in OTT.” He added, “Should have been given another week of theatre run. Hereafter, the interest of watching movies in theatres will fade away.”

Some couldn’t believe that Annaatthe is on Netflix now and expressed their shock.

“The Rajinikanth movie in OTT in just 20 days from the theatrical release. Hmmmmm,” wrote a person.

Meanwhile, people are also questioning trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan’s claim that Annaatthe collected Rs 150 crore in Tamil Nadu. Some dismissed Vijayabalan’s tweet as an exaggeration.

Now, if you are wondering why Twitter is divided on  Annaatthe’s OTT release. Then let us help you here. The questions are being raised because other films that were released during the same time are not on streaming platforms yet. For example, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi hit the theatres on November 5. In the next week, on November 12, Kurup, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, made its way to the cinemas. Both these films are still being screened in cinemas.
