The holiday season is creeping into Starbucks’ cafés nationwide earlier than ever, as the coffee chain has already shared details of its 2022 seasonal merchandise offerings (including Christmas gifts!) this month. And if you’re already itching to get into the holiday spirit, great news: eagle-eyed Starbucks aficionados have noted that festive holiday cold cups and tumblers have already started popping up in some stores.
Diehard Starbucks fans are in for a treat, as the 2022 holiday collection is shaping up to be almost twice as large compared to items released last year; and there is just as expansive of a selection in design, with everything from classic jeweled bling cups to soft-touch jelly tumblers and even detailed color-changing cold cups. According to Starbucks’ detailed release, coffee lovers can expect as many as 25 different merch options for the upcoming holiday extravaganza.
Those who celebrate Christmas may set their sights on two new metallic bling cups, available in a striking color matchup of magenta and regal gold. The venti-sized tumblers, which will sell at $24.95, can be paired with adorable miniature ornaments in the same design, priced at $14.95.
Some shoppers have already spotted these cups in cafés, which may be one of the earliest releases we’ve seen for holiday-specific merchandise.
A Starbucks representative was unable to confirm when exactly customers can expect all of the seasonal merchandise to be released. But as we know from previous merchandise drops, new coffee cups and mugs tend to be available at Target first, with staggered waves of new items being released weekly over the course of the holidays; if reportedly leaked corporate materials are to be believed, the first holiday drop will occur on Thursday, November 3.
Starbucks’ has also confirmed the return of a trio of brilliant jeweled 24oz cold cups, retailing at $22.95, which are all but guaranteed to sell out in the weeks to come. With a nod to last year’s designs, another trio of ombré wave cold cups is expected to roll out soon — alongside three new color-changing cold cups as well, which have been detailed in unconfirmed leaks being shared online. Plus, there’s a single soft-touch tumbler in a ‘pink lace’ design that is gearing up to be a hot holiday gift for the ultimate Starbucks fan.
One previously unannounced holiday item has already made its way onto some shelves: a new pair of gradient bling tumblers, available in an ombré blush design as well as a mint green scheme. We’re guessing that these tumblers may become this season’s hottest item, based on previous years’ designs and the craze surrounding early drops on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
If you’re not into tumblers for iced coffee, rejoice — there are plenty of hot coffee mugs and water bottles to choose from this year. Starbucks has already detailed that its popular color-changing hot cup set, which retails for $19.95, is back and excellently redesigned using festive themes and motifs. Water bottles, including the special 20oz gradient design above, can help you stay hydrated throughout the rest of the year.
While Starbucks has definitely leaned into holiday joy for its newest merchandise collection, true fans are awaiting the forthcoming announcement of its seasonal paper holiday cup design. Last year’s motif revolved around ribbon, wrapping paper and candy canes — and this year’s design is expected to be revealed just days after Halloween wraps on October 31.
