[ad_1]

So, are you considering adopting the RV life? If the open road gives you an adrenaline rush and the excitement of sitting behind the wheel listening to the engine roar is incomparable to everything else in your life, you are ready for the RV lifestyle.

Are you unsure whether you can permanently live the RV life but want to dip your toes just a little? The answer is RV rentals! You can rent an RV of your choice and temporarily live the life you dream of. If making it permanent isn’t an option, you can plan one or two RV road trips to keep the wanderlust spirit alive.

Now, once you have rented an RV and are getting ready for your road trip, you must make sure you have everything you need. This is where this RV camping checklist will come in handy to ensure you have packed all the essentials to enjoy your adventure stress-free. This checklist works whether you are a seasoned RV renter, a first-timer RVer, or an RV owner. Let’s go!

Here’s a list of all the basic RV essentials that are non-negotiable. It is these essentials that will ensure you can enjoy your road trip without any worry.

RV Essentials

  • RV drinking water hose
  • Sewer kit (because you cannot have your RV stinking!)
  • RV toilet paper (they are different from regular toilet paper)
  • Surge protector or power management system (to protect the sensitive RV electronics)
  • Tire pressure gauge (to ensure road safety)
  • Jumper cables plus battery jump pack
  • Fire extinguishers (because you never know when you start a fire!) – make sure you learn how to use them.
  • Motor oil, washer fluid, extra gas canister, and coolant so that you can stay on your route and not have to look for a mechanic.
  • Paper maps (you may not get cell service in remote areas during your travel)
  • Boondocking or dry camping gear
  • GPS device that has offline maps, portable Wi-Fi hotspot (optional), and phone chargers.
  • The first-aid kit consists of scissors, gauze, band-aids, rubbing alcohol, pain medication, and anything else you need.
  • Flashlight
  • Windshield wiper fluid because you have hit a lot of bugs during your travel.

Besides these, you must pack an emergency survival kit that will save you if you have a flat tire in the middle of your journey or fall sick.

Bath and Sleeping Essentials

  • Sleeping bags or blankets
  • Pillows
  • Bedding and sheets
  • Towels
  • Toiletry kit (soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, tweezers, razor, etc.)
  • Insect repellant (because you don’t want to be their meal!)

You can also include other personal items that you may need, such as earplugs if you are a light sleeper or hair dryer.

Double-check that you have packed all the sleep and bath necessities. A good night’s sleep is required when you have to drive thousands of kilometers. So, don’t compromise on your comfort!

Kitchen Necessities

Cooking up delicious meals along the road is a huge plus of renting an RV for your solo or family holidays. You will need the following kitchen items:

  • Coffee maker (if the RV rental doesn’t come with one, you have to get one) and coffee-making supplies
  • Drinking water
  • Can opener
  • Grill
  • Lighter or matches
  • Cutting board
  • Utensils, plates, cutlery, and sharp knives (bowls if required)
  • Pots, pans, and other cookware
  • Food storage containers
  • Dish towels and rags or paper towels to clean up big and small messes
  • Trash bags to throw away all the garbage, such as vegetable peels. Ensure that you pack a lot of trash bags because you have to keep the site clean.
  • Dishwashing items
  • Basic seasonings and spices, such as pepper, salt, herbs, and anything else you need to make your food tasty.

Clothes

When traveling in an RV, it is assumed that you will be spending a lot of time on the road. You must pack clothes according to the season to ensure you are comfortable during your long drives. Also, pack clothes for sightseeing and other activities you might engage in.

If you are traveling with kids, it is best to pack extra clothes for them because they may dirty their clothes. Also, it is wise to pack some warm clothes because even if you travel during summer, the nights may become chilly.

Please note that most campgrounds have a laundromat, so you can wash your clothes without much fuss. And this means packing less clothes. But if this is an important part of your plan, you must call the campground in advance and confirm.

If you are wondering about the essential clothes that you must pack, here’s a list:

  • A pair of shorts for each day on the road
  • A couple of T-shirts or tank top
  • Bathing suit
  • Two pairs of underwear per day because it is always good to carry extra.
  • One sweatshirt
  • Towels
  • Sweatpants and PJs
  • Running or hiking shoes
  • Comfortable slippers or sandals

You can also include hats if you want and a couple of socks.

Recreational Items (optional)

When it comes to recreation, you can carry whatever you want. The list given here are optional items that you could carry for your RV adventure. You are free to improvise according to your likes and dislikes.

  • Board games, card games, puzzles, magazines, story books, and other items of indoor fun.
  • Sports equipment or frisbees if you plan to engage in outdoor activities.
  • Inflatable tubes or rafts, swimsuits, and other swim gear if you would like to take a dip.

So, this is what your packing list must include for your upcoming RV rental adventure. Of course, you are free to make adjustments to this list depending on your travel style and crew size.

Oh, but in the excitement of packing all these items in your rented RV, don’t forget to bring your ID, passport, and other necessary documents. This is particularly important if you are planning to cross borders or travel outside of the USA in your RV. Also, carry cash. Do not assume that wherever you go, your credit card will be accepted.

Start packing and get ready to hit the road!
