“This is not just a movie,” ’83 star Ranveer Singh wrote in an appreciation note on Tuesday night, “It’s a glorious tribute to that moment in Indian history that changed it all! It’s about the great achievement of the Indian Cricket Team of 19832 – ‘Kapil’s Devils’! The trailer of ’83 released this week to great acclaim – Ranveer plays Kapil Dev and there’s a stacked cast of actors playing Kapil’s Devils. “These men are legends and it’s an honour to be a part of the cinematic telling of their iconic story on the big screen,” Ranveer wrote.
Ranveer Singh’s post is a thank you note for “movie fans all over the country and beyond, our film fraternity, the press.” It reads: “People from all walks of life and generations have appreciated the movie’s trailer and we are filled with gratitude and gladness.”
The skipper of the film version of Kapil’s Devils is director Kabir Khan or, as Ranveer puts it in his note, “Kaptaan Kabir Khan.” The post received big love from celebrities like Sara Ali Khan, who co-starred with Ranveer in Simmba, Athiya Shetty and Pooja Hegde. ’83 stars Dhairya Karwa and Adinath Kothare, who play Ravi Shastri and Dilip Vengsarkar respectively, left hearts in the comments.
