14 Apr UK Travelers: Time for a road trip in France
It is well-known, British citizens love to cross “la Manche” and head to France for a few days off. Now that we will soon be able to travel more freely, it is obvious that many of them will get in their car and head down for a change of scenery. But everybody can enjoy a road trip in Northern France, no matter where you are from. Here is our suggestion for a great time.
Saint-Malo
First thing you will need to do, if you are coming into France from the UK, is to drive to Portsmouth and take the ferry to Saint-Malo. From there, drive down a little south, to the campsite Domaine des Ormes, where you can rent a mobile home with canvasholidays. That way, you will benefit from all the comfort of their facility (pool, sports, entertainment…) at a very affordable price. But furthermore, you will get to spend a lot of time outside, which is what we all want after being stuck in our homes, for too long.
Once you are settled in, take the family back to Saint-Malo for a visit of the town. You will discover a city that was first built in the 5th century, but that was rebuilt almost entirely after the Second World War. The narrow-cobbled streets and splendid gray granite houses of the Old Town will take you away for a while, and bring back memories, as you walk through Saint-Vincent Cathedral (13th century) and walk by 18th century privateer houses.
Ile-de-France
After a few days of good times in the sun and splashing in the pool, head west to the campsite la Croix du Vieux-Port, near Paris. There you will still enjoy the benefits of a mobile home on a site full of activities, but most importantly, you’ll be a step away from Disneyland Paris! Take a couple of days to go and experience new sensations in this world-famous attraction park. With or without the kids, Disneyland is a place where you will forget all the worries of life and create wonderful souvenirs to bring back home.
St-Georges d’Oléron
There is no better way to finish a holiday than to spend a few days on the beach. Drop your things at campsite Domaine d’Oléron and don’t waste another minute. Head out to the coast to enjoy some relaxing time, spent lying in the sun, and taking in the fresh air, coming from the ocean. Don’t worry about going home yet; it will come soon enough. Just enjoy this sweet time, spent travelling around the various French regions.
