MG Motor India sees a strong momentum for its entire line-up – Hector, ZS EV and Gloster
MG Motor India has announced its sales numbers for February 2021. The Chinese-owned British carmaker retailed 4,329 units last month registering the highest-ever retail growth of 215 per cent during February against the same month last year. However, we have to consider the fact that in February 2020 the company only had the Hector and the ZS EV on sale, whereas right now it also sells the Hector Plus and the Gloster. Last month, the carmaker recorded the highest production, bookings and sales because of the strong momentum witnessed for all its products including Hector, Gloster and the ZS EV from the Indian market. Also, compared to 3,602 units sold in January 2021, MG Motor Indian witnessed a Month-on-Month (M-o-M) growth of 20 per cent.

Commenting on the sales performance, Rakesh Sidana Director – Sales, MG Motor India, said, “The higher sales of 2021 product lines are very encouraging. We also expect the EV trend to accelerate with our charging infrastructure now available across more cities. The growth momentum is expected to continue in March, and we are working at the back-end to try and reduce the waiting period for our customers.”
MG Motor also launched the 2021 Hector facelift with CVT transmission last month. The SUV is priced at ₹ 16.52 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Moreover, the new 2021 Hector range went on sale this January, which currently includes the two-row, 5-seater Hector and the three-row, 6- & 7-seater Hector Plus. Further strengthening its product offering, the carmaker also launched the updated 2021 ZS EV in India, priced at ₹ 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). MG said that in February 2021, the production of the Gloster full-size SUV also increased gradually despite supply chain challenges.
