12 Passover Gifts to Bring to Seder Dinner
[ad_1]
Hosting a Passover seder dinner is hardly like hosting guests on any ordinary occasion — and it’s a highly complex feat to pull off.
For one thing, it requires that hosts gather all of the ritual items including a seder plate, candles and candlesticks, pillows for reclining, a haggadah for each guest, an afikomen holder — and of course prizes for whichever lucky kid finds the hidden matzah stash. And that’s even before a host has even begun to cook for the seder meal with its dietary rules and customs. (Kosher for Passover comes with a unique set of restrictions; it’s flourless desserts only for this occasion!)
And that’s to say nothing of the cleaning required to rid the home of chametz (leavened food) before the meal — and of course, all the clean-up required after the celebration is over! (Are you tired yet just thinking about it?)
So as a guest at such a special holiday event, the rules of courtesy certainly apply: arrive on time, be polite, engage when your participation is requested and bring a thoughtful hostess gift for an extra special touch.
To show your host how much you appreciate all the effort that went into such a cherished and meaningful tradition, you could always contribute an inventive matzah recipe to add to the spread, or a bottle of kosher wine to open together. (Much wine is consumed during a seder after all!) Or, consider bringing one of these other meaningful Passover gifts that can be enjoyed by all on the same night, or cherished as part of traditions for years to come in the host’s home.
