Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a sequel, publisher CD Projeckt Red revealed in a tweet Tuesday. The company gave the new entry into the sci-fi franchise the codename Project Orion.
CD Projeckt Red shared its plans for its Cyberpunk and Witcher universe in a video laying out its long-term product outlook. Along with news of the Cyberpunk sequel, it confirmed more Witcher games are coming — including another mainline entry codenamed Project Polaris. This new title is currently in pre-production, will be open-world like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and will start a new trilogy.
There are plans for other entries in the franchise developed by other studios. Project Sirius is described as an “innovative take on The Witcher universe telling an unforgettable story for existing Witcher fans and new audiences,” and it will be developed by Molasses Flood, a Boston-based studio that’ll work with CD Projekt Red. Another title in the Witcher universe will be developed by a third-party developer, and its codename is Cania Majoris. The publisher plans for these new Witcher titles to come out over the course of the next six years.
CD Project Red also began work on a new series codenamed Project Hadar. No concrete details were provided, but it’s currently in the conceptual stage and will be a standalone game separate The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. The company says it will also begin introducing multiplayer experiences to its future games.
Cyberpunk 2077 will receive more content soon in the form of an expansion. Phantom Liberty will launch in 2023 and will add a new district to Night City, additional quests and more.
