Cooking Gas Rates Hiked; How Much You Pay For LPG Cooking Gas Cylinder Refill Now

LPG Cooking Gas Price: In Delhi, the price of non-subsidised LPG is ₹ 769 per cylinder.

LPG Cylinder Price: Non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices were hiked by ₹ 50 in the national capital on February 14, Sunday. According to the new rates, a 14.2 kg gas cylinder in Delhi now cost ₹ 769  (for the non-subsidised cylinders) with effect from February 15, Monday (12 AM) onwards. This is the second price hike of cooking gas in the month of February, reported news agency ANI. Earlier, the non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas prices were increased by ₹ 25 on February 4, 2021 across the four metro cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai.

The hike in LPG cooking gas rates comes at a time when the prices of petrol and diesel prices have touched all-time highs across the four metro cities after oil marketing companies increased the rates by 30-35 paise for almost eight consecutive days. On February 16, the price of petrol was hiked by 30 paise from ₹ 88.99 to ₹ 89.29 per litre in the national capital, and diesel was increased by 35 paise from ₹ 79.35 per litre to ₹ 79.70 per litre, according to Indian Oil Corporation. In Mumbai, the revised petrol and diesel rates are ₹ 95.75 per litre and ₹ 86.72 per litre respectively.

The rates of non-subsidised LPG cylinders are usually reviewed on a monthly basis and any changes are implemented on the first day of every month. Cooking gas rates vary in different parts across the country due to local taxes.

The prices of LPG cylinders in the country- cooking and commercial. are determined by the state-run oil marketing companies. The government subsidies a total of 12 cylinders of 14.2 kilograms each per household every year. The customer has to make any additional purchases of the LPG cylinders at the market price. The amount of subsidy provided by the government on the annual quota of 12 refills varies from month to month. The subsidy is determined broadly by factors such as crude oil and foreign exchange rates.
