Full card, predictions for WrestleMania 37
[ad_1]
WrestleMania 37 takes place this Saturday and Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. The massive, two-night card will see eight championships on the line across 14 matches featuring dozens of WWE stars. Here’s a look at the full lineup as well as who we think will emerge victorious in each contest.
Night 1 (April 10)
Naomi & Lana vs. Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke vs. The Riott Squad vs. Natalya & Tamina (Tag Team Turmoil)
Who we think will win: The Riott Squad
Why: The Riott Squad has the most history as a tag team and if WWE is going to make a real push with its women’s tag team division, having a cohesive unit challenge — and eventually win — the championships would go a long way.
Bad Bunny & Damian Priest vs. The Miz & John Morrison
Who we think will win: Bad Bunny & Damian Priest
Why: Sure, Bad Bunny doesn’t really have much in-ring experience, but WWE didn’t bring him in to lose at WrestleMania. You shouldn’t expect this to be a 5-star, 20-minute classic, but you can expect this match to be incredibly entertaining considering the rest of the talent in it.
Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins
Who we think will win: Seth Rollins
Why: Unlike the match mentioned above, this likely WILL be an instant classic, considering the technical prowess of these two performers. We wouldn’t be surprised if Cesaro pulled this one out, but considering Rollins is coming in as the heel, there’ll likely be some underhanded tactic at play in the finish. Regardless, it feels like the winner here moves into the universal championship picture and the loser makes a run at Big E and the Intercontinental Championship.
Shane McMahon vs. Braun Strowman (Steel Cage Match)
Who we think will win: Braun Strowman
Why: There’s not much upside from a long-term booking perspective of having McMahon win this match. McMahon undoubtedly will have some incredible spots during the bout, but a Strowman win could set him up for a run at the WWE championship sometime in the coming months.
Raw Tag Team Championship — The New Day (c) AJ Styles & Omos
Who we think will win: AJ Styles and Omos
Why: I love watching the New Day and they are arguably the best tag team of all time, but Styles and Omos have the potential to simply mix things up a bit in Raw’s tag team division. There’s more storytelling opportunity down the line if WWE builds up the team of Styles and Omos, who particularly would benefit from an extended successful run in the near future.
WWE Championship — Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
Who we think will win: Bobby Lashley
Why: The Hurt Business has been one of the best stables in recent memory, and despite the recent splintering of the group, keeping Raw’s top championship with Lashley — and his manager MVP — makes a ton of sense, if only because most feuds will feel fresh. McIntyre had an extended run after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 last year and might be in line for a move to Smackdown in the coming weeks.
SmackDown Women’s Championship — Sasha Banks (c) vs. Bianca Belair
Who we think will win: Bianca Belair
Why: Belair is red-hot right now and her feud with Banks is one of the best — if not the best — thing going on in WWE today. In her first extended run as Smackdown women’s champion, Banks elevated the title even further than most thought possible and even with a loss, would still be at the top of WWE’s women’s division. It’s been a while since Smackdown had a babyface women’s champion. We expect that to change Saturday night.
Night 2 (April 11)
“The Fiend” Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton:
Who we think will win: “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
Why: If WWE wants to continue with Bray Wyatt’s “Fiend” character and the universe being built around it, Wyatt needs to win on Sunday. Expect something better than the match these two had at WrestleMania 33 but something that isn’t nearly as weird as Wyatt’s “Firefly Funhouse match” against John Cena last year.
Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn with special guest Logan Paul:
Who we think will win: Sami Zayn
Why: Logan Paul will manage to play a role in this match somehow, and we think it’ll be in an attempt to help Owens win. In typical pro wrestling fashion, however, we imagine it’ll backfire and Zayn will walk away victorious. It might be extremely unlikely, but if Paul were to stick around, a program with Owens would be perfect for him and Zayn’s character could be on the cusp of a brilliant heel run.
United States Championship — Riddle (c) vs. Sheamus:
Who we think will win: Riddle
Why: Riddle has more momentum coming into WrestleMania after picking up a win over Ali on Monday night. Regardless of who wins this match, it would be nice to see them bring back the open challenge on Raw to push this title to new heights.
Intercontinental Championship — Big E (c) vs. Apollo Crews
Who we think will win: Big E
Why: Big E has so much momentum behind him and it’s more of a when, not if, he’ll enter the universal championship picture. A loss to Crews at WrestleMania would be a major setback from a storytelling perspective.
Women’s Tag Team Championship — Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler (c) vs. The Riott Squad (If we’re right on Saturday)
Who we think will win: The Riott Squad
Why: Jax and Baszler have run roughshod through the women’s tag team division since becoming a team last year. A loss frees up both Jax and Baszler for singles runs, where their talents can be better used. We think no matter who wins on Saturday to earn this opportunity comes out victorious again on Sunday.
Raw Women’s Championship — Asuka (c) vs. Rhea Ripley
Who we think will win: Rhea Ripley
Why: Tough call here, but as long as she is in WWE, Asuka will always be in the championship picture, so a loss doesn’t hurt her as much as it would Ripley at this stage in their careers. More than any other match on the card, this feels like a passing of the torch moment. We would not be surprised to see some major changes in the Raw, Smackdown and NXT women’s rosters after WrestleMania, and a big part of it would be possible with Asuka dropping the title.
Universal Championship — Roman Reigns (c) vs. Edge vs. Daniel Bryan
Who we think will win: Edge
Why: Reigns’ recent run has been the best of his career and it wouldn’t be a total shocker if he walked away as champion on Sunday night, but this feels like Edge’s official redemption moment. WWE has been pushing Edge’s “Ultimate Opportunist” persona during the build for this match and in a triple threat, he can capitalize by pinning Bryan. This outcome would protect Reigns while simultaneously setting up a singles match between him and Edge at Money in the Bank or Backlash.
