Kapanen reconnects with Spezza after scoring ‘vintage’ goal

Kasperi Kapenen may no longer be with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but he’s still nestled tightly under Jason Spezza‘s wing.
Inspired after Jason Spezza connected with the quintessential Jason Spezza goal on Hockey Night in Canada last weekend, the Pittsburgh Penguins forward tried on his former teammate’s patented move for size on a scoring chance in Tuesday night’s win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
It wasn’t quite as clean as what we’ve seen from “Vintage,” not even close.
But it still did the trick.
Kasperi Kapanen sa po chybnej rozohrávke Shaynea Gostisbehereho dostal do úniku, prestrelil Cartera Harta medzi betóny a vyrovnal na 1:1 pic.twitter.com/QffYB9oUyj

For reference, here’s how brilliantly Spezza sells the fake slapper:
But hey, it’s a move that takes decades of experience to master, and Kapanen has nothing but time to work on his abilities to make goaltenders look foolish with the simple deception.
Spezza himself looks like he has many quality games ahead of him as well, but there will come a time when “Vintage” is indeed too vintage.
So, he’s encouraging Kapanen to carry on his legacy of old-fashioned finishes.
“He actually texted me after the game,” Kapanen said, referring to Spezza as the “Big Daddy.”
“He said, ‘keep the move alive.'”
