On Sunday, veteran singer Asha Bhosle shared a throwback pic on Instagram. The post features Asha Bhosle along with sister Lata Mangeshkar from their childhood. Sharing the monochrome post, Asha wrote, “Bachpan ke din bhi kya din the. Didi and I,” along with a heart emoji. In the pic, the two sisters can be seen posing for the camera. Reacting to the post, singer AR Rahman wrote: “Adorable.” Actor Hrithik Roshan and Shruti Haasan also dropped heart emojis on Asha’s post. Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 92 after she was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Veteran singer and Lata Mangeshkar’s sister Asha Bhosle, 88, paid her final respects to the legendary singer on Sunday. Asha Bhosle was pictured outside her house. Members of the Hindi film fraternity, including Amitabh Bachchan and daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, Anupam Kher, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Shraddha Kapoor, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar were also pictured visiting Lata Mangeshkar’s house on Sunday afternoon.
Asha Bhosle visited her late sister Lata Mangeshkar at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on Saturday evening. News agency ANI quoted Asha Bhosle as saying, “The doctor has said that she is stable now.” Lata Mangeshkar was taken to the intensive care unit on January 8 after testing positive for COVID-19. Her health condition deteriorated on Saturday, the doctors said, reported news agency ANI.
Lata Mangeshkar’s sisters Asha, Meena and Usha are also singers. Their brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar is a music director.
Lata Mangeshkar began singing to support her family after the death of her father Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar in 1942. He was a classical singer and theatre actor. In Bollywood, Lata Mangeshkar got her first major break with the song Dil Mera Toda from the 1948 film Majboor. However, her song Aayega Aanewaala from the movie Mahal (1949) became her first major hit. Lata Mangeshkar sung in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and other regional languages. She was been honoured with the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award as well as several National and Filmfare Awards.
