The 2021 Jeep Wrangler will be launched in India on March 15, 2021
Taking its second step in the go-local strategy for the Indian market, Stellantis India has commenced the local assembly of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler off-roader at its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The Wrangler will see a price reduction as a result of the local assembly and the updated pricing and technical specifications will be announced at the time of the market launch on March 15, 2021. With the rollout, the automaker has also commenced pre-bookings for the 2021 Wrangler across its 26 dealerships across the country.

Speaking about the rollout, Partha Datta – Managing Director, Jeep India said, “Jeep has always represented the ultimate in capability and open-air freedom, and we are incredibly proud that our Made-in-India Wrangler protects that important legacy in the market. The Jeep Wrangler is the second out of the four localised products we committed to launch in India. We wanted to make the world’s most recognised SUV even more accessible to our Indian customers and we are pleased to be able to meet their aspirations.”
The made-in-India 2021 Jeep Wrangler comes to India is now locally-assembled instead of being a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The iconic off-roader will be nearly identical to the CBU model but will attract lower taxation, with the benefit being passed on to customers. The CBU version of the Wrangler is currently priced at ₹ 63.94 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and expect the same to reduce by a substantial margin.
With respect to features, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler comes with a number of upgrades while retaining the iconic styling. The cabin will get a revised dashboard, new 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with UConnect, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. The SUV also gets passive keyless entry as well as a push-button start. The India-spec Wrangler is offered in the five-door guise and also comes with leather upholstery for the seats and soft-touch leather across the cabin.

Jeep India is yet to confirm the engine line-up on the locally-assembled Wrangler. The company will continue to offer the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 262 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, paired with the 8-speed automatic transmission. It will be interesting to see if the automaker introduces the diesel version as well this time to take on the Mercedes-Benz G 350d and the Land Rover Defender in the segment.
