BMW will begin manufacturing the 2 Series Coupe later in 2021 and though we don’t see much of its design in these pictures, expect the two-door model’s design to be in line with the current design language of the company

BMW has teased the 2 Series Coupe and it says that the car is on the final stretch as it heads into series production. The final phase of the series development process for the new edition of the BMW 2 Series Coupé has begun with the dynamic testing and tuning of its drive and suspension systems under racetrack conditions. The BMW 2 Series Coupe will come a rear-wheel drive setup, a powerful in-line 6-cylinder engine and expect it to be dynamic in terms of the way it drives.

BMW will begin manufacturing the 2 Series Coupe later in 2021 and though we don’t see much of its design in these pictures, expect the two-door model’s design to be in line with the current design language of the company. During the development of the new BMW 2 Series Coupe, the test and tuning drives on the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife served as the ultimate test for wheel suspension, chassis, damping, steering and braking system.

By extensively testing all drive and chassis systems, the development and test engineers ensure that the engine’s performance characteristics go hand in hand with precisely controllable handling in every situation, fascinating cornering dynamics, optimised traction in all weather and road conditions and perfectly balanced ride comfort. At the same time, the car is fine-tuned to optimise self-steering behaviour and the dynamics when building up lateral acceleration forces.

The new BMW 2 Series Coupe will of course get an M version – the M240i xDrive. This one will draw power from an in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology. It will push out 374 horsepower and the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission will help send all that power to the wheels. The BMW M model puts its power to the road using the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system
