How to spend a weekend in Rio De Janeiro

Rio De Janeiro is a city of culture and vibrancy. It’s a city that can be quite intense at times but also full of unimaginable beauty. While it would be easy to spend at least a few weeks here, if you only have a few days, you must visit the city’s highlights.

Visit Christ the Redeemer

One of the very first things that you must do is to visit Christ the Redeemer. This 30-meter statue which is found on top of Corcovado mountain is simply breathtaking. There are a few ways that you can reach the statue, either by car, train or on foot. Make sure you take a camera with you as you’ll want a reminder of the view and the statue’s sheer magnificence.

See Sugarloaf Mountain

If you have a head for heights and you are happy to travel in a cable car, make sure you visit Sugarloaf Mountain. This soaring mountain surrounds itself with some stunning views and the tree-lined hills that make their way up it is nothing short of spectacular. Again, be sure to take your camera.

One of the best times to visit the mountain is in the early morning or early evening. This is because the area tends to be a little quieter.

Enjoy a Hike

Hiking in Rio De Janeiro is a must, even if you’re something of a novice. There are many hike trails to choose from, but hiking up the Morro Di Babilonia is recommended. Taking approximately 30 minutes to read the top of the trail, not only will you see Sugarloaf Mountain again, but you’ll also have the chance to explore some of the local communities.

Please make sure that if you do enjoy a hike that you always take the right equipment. Wear the right boots/shoes and be sure to have plenty of water with you. You should also take anything that could prove practical such as glue in case your shoes split or a bag breaks. It helps to be well informed in choosing the right product as it can make a huge difference.

Also, consider taking a hat and an extra layer in case it gets a little cold.

Spend Time at the Museum of Tomorrow

The Museum of Tomorrow isn’t quite as well known as it could be. Spend time enjoying the interactive displays and learn about how the Earth was created. This thought-provoking museum also considers what the earth will look like in the future. It’s likely that you’ll remember your time here for many years to come thanks to the exhibits and the shape of the museum.

Rio De Janeiro is a wonderful part of the world to visit. Be sure to spend some time taking in the sights and sounds. You don’t have to plan every minute of your time here. Take some time out of your busy day to relax, unwind, and enjoy some of the local delicacies. You can then start planning your next trip to Rio.
