What Is Open on New Year’s Day

So you’ve rung in the New Year with some good food and a few (or more) New Year’s champagne toasts … which means it’s now time to get working on those New Year’s resolutions! When it comes to starting 2021 off on the right foot, there’s nothing more important than stocking up on all the essentials — whether that’s groceries for healthy recipes or some new books on your reading list. Luckily, if you’re wondering what is open on New Year’s Day 2021, these stores have you covered on the first of January — so you can start the year with a fuller fridge and closet.

This year, of course, may look a little different due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which means that some stores on our list may have limited hours or specific restrictions, depending on location. As always, it’s best to call ahead to check your local store’s hours before heading out. One thing to remember, though, is that New Year’s Day is considered a federal holiday so banks, post offices and other federal buildings will be closed. But if you’re looking to do a little shopping, these stores open on New Year’s will have you covered — as well as these restaurants open on New Year’s (in case you’re craving a bite in between shopping!).
